Rockland Legislature Passes Bill Seeking Compensation for Congestion Pricing

April 2, 2024 by Jeff Lewis

Though the MTA’s controversial congestion pricing plan to toll drivers who enter the zone below 60th street from various points outside the city was approved last week, it still faces a few hurdles. Several lawsuits have been filed, including one by Rockland County. The Rockland County Legislature’s Minority Leader Lon Hofstein says the legislature passed a bill unanimously last month that seeks compensation for Rockland commuters who must pay the added toll…

There are expected to be “crossing credits” for drivers who use any of the four tunnels to get into Manhattan, the Lincoln, the Holland, the Queens-Midtown and the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnels. Cars would be tolled $15 to enter Manhattan below 60th Street, while trucks could be charged up to $36, depending on size.
