Rockland Lawmaker: Calls to “Defund” Police Go too Far

Shootings are up, police are leaving the NYPD by the busload, morale is lower than it’s been in years. The upheaval around the country has led to call for changes in the way police do their jobs. Rockland and Westchester state senator David Carlucci says calls to defund the police, however, go too far…

Mayor Bill de Blasio and the city council are looking to cut one billion dollars from the NYPD’s annual six billion dollar budget. CBS New York says he’s looking use the money to support youth and community services, the July recruit class will be cancelled, reducing the NYPD headcount by more than one-thousand, and overtime will be capped.
