Rockland Cyclists Hit the Road for the “Ride of Silence”

Rockland cyclists will be participating in the international “Ride of Silence” later today in New City to raise awareness of bike safety issues. The Ride of Silence encourages drivers and cyclists to safely share the road. Rita Joachim is on the board of the Rockland Bicycling Club, and says motorists need to be patient and considerate…

The first Ride of Silence was held after the 2003 death of bike enthusiast Larry Schwartz of Plano, Texas. The Rockland Bicycling Club will begin their ride at the County Courthouse tonight at 6:30. It’ll go south on Main Street, turn right onto Collyer Avenue, then a right onto Little Tor Road, a right at Jawonio on Phillips Hill Road, then right on Main Street to head back to the courthouse.
