Rockland County Legislature Urges Bridge Panel to Hold Tolls Down on Tappan Zee

August 12, 2019 by helpdesk1

Rockland County Legislators voted unanimously last week to urge the Bridge Toll Advisory Panel to consider discounted tolls for Rockland commuters. The Rockland County Legislature’s minority leader, Lon Hofstein, says since the state was able to find the money for Staten Island and Brooklyn residents to hold the line on toll increases for the Verrazzano-Narrows bridge earlier this year, the same should be done for Rocklanders…

Rockland assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee says trucks should be charged more to use the Tappan Zee Bridge, to discourage them from using it at all…

Legislator Nancy Low-Hogan thinks the current $5 bridge toll will at least double after 2020, but says Rockland County families and businesses cannot realistically be expected to pay double, calling it “not economically feasible.”
