Rockland County Legislature Honors Pearl Harbor Survivor Who Died at 100 Last Week

October 7, 2021 by Jeff Lewis

Armando “Chick” Galella, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack nearly 80 years ago and who passed away last week, was honored at Tuesday’s Legislature meeting. Galella served in the Army’s 53rd Signal Corps and died last week at the age of 100 after being hospitalized with COVID-19 and developing pneumonia. North Tarrytown born and raised, Galella was a fixture at Suffern’s Pearl Harbor commemorations over the years…

That audio courtesy of the “USA Warrior Stories” YouTube channel. Ramapo legislator Phil Soskin, an Army veteran who served in the 1950s, called him “a warm and wonderful person.”
