Rockland County Budget Passage — It Could Be Smooth Sailing in 2019

October 7, 2019 by helpdesk1

Could it be smooth sailing for the county budget this year? Rockland’s county executive thinks it could be. Ed Day told “The Morning Show” Friday there isn’t really much to fight about this year…

Minority Leader Lon Hofstein says county lawmakers will need to review aspects of the budget closely before giving it their seal of approval in December…

Clarkstown legislator Harriet Cornell hopes $30 million in the County’s 2020 capital projects budget for Open Space Preservation and Acquisition will survive the review process…

The proposed $730 million spending plan was unveiled by the county executive last week. It was under the property tax cap of about 3 percent. The property tax increase would be 2.87 percent, around $3 a month to the average homeowner. The Legislature has tentatively set Tuesday, November 19th for a public hearing and Tuesday, December 3rd to vote on the plan.
