FEMA has started to build a 1,000-bed temporary hospital at the Javits Center in the city that will open next week and help increase New York’s capacity to combat coronavirus. That’s on top of the four sites the Army Corps of Engineers is creating, including at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, for temporary hospitals with a total capacity up to 4,000.
