Rockland Closing Gas Price Gap with NJ; RBA CEO: Tax Revenue Outlook Looks Good

January 20, 2020 by helpdesk1

Added gas taxes in New Jersey have led to a resurgence for Rockland gas stations. Prices vary from station to station, but the prices are much closer than they once were. The average gas price in New Jersey is 2.61 while in New York it’s 2.70. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says people have been building new stations in Rockland thanks New Jersey’s move, and residents are more inclined not only to buy gas here, but to spend more here at home…

Al Samuels is the head of the Rockland Business Association, and says growth at gas stations, particularly those with convenience stores, could hurt food stores…

Samuels says Rockland’s retail market is projected to hit 7 billion dollars in 2024, up from 6 billion in 2019.
