Rockland’s freshman Congressman has crossed the aisle to partner with a colleague from New Jersey to bring an end to congestion pricing. Republican Mike Lawler is working with Democrat Josh Gottheimer and they’re proposing the Anti-Congestion Pricing Act. The bill would prohibit federal grants from going to the MTA unless drivers get a congestion pricing exemption. It would also rewrite the tax code to give drivers a federal tax credit. At a press conference in Fort Lee yesterday, Lawler said burdening people who have the fewest mass transit options with a new toll isn’t the way to fix what ails the system…
Gottheimer said the legislation would protect both New York and New Jersey drivers…
