Road Project in Orangetown Finished After Nearly Two Decades

November 3, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

A project has finally been finished nearly two decades after it began. Local officials ceremoniously cut a ribbon yesterday, marking the completion of River Road / County Route One in Piermont and Grandview-on-Hudson to the Tappan Zee Bridge. Rockland Highway Department Chief Skip Vezetti said the ribbon-cutting was a first for a county roadway project. Vezetti said it took a while because once the road was open, all the sewer, electric, gas and water lines were also upgraded. A post on the county’s Facebook page said the project was done “ahead of schedule” and under budget. River Road runs parallel to the Hudson River and is a popular route with cyclists and sightseers. Lines are expected to be painted on the road surface today.
