The mother of the Spring Valley firefighter killed in the blaze at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults last year has reportedly filed a wrongful death lawsuit. That’s according to the Journal News. The suit reportedly claims the village, its inspectors, and the owners and employees of the facility, knew dangerous conditions existed at the property. 35 year-old Jared Lloyd was killed March 23rd last year along with a resident of the home. Two rabbis are accused of causing the fire while using a blow torch to clean the facility’s ovens and kitchen in a Passover ritual. Their attorneys want the indictment dismissed. A Rockland County Court Judge is expected to decide by September 28th whether the indictment will stand. They’re charged with manslaughter, negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, and assault.
