The COVID red zone in Ramapo has been changed to an orange warning zone. The yellow buffer zone around it remains. The orange zone permits 33% capacity or 25 people maximum at Houses of Worship, a maximum of 10 people at mass gatherings, high-risk non-essential businesses remain closed, restaurants can provide takeout and outdoor dining only, at most four people per table, and schools remain closed for in-person learning.
The COVID pandemic has forced SUNY schools to push their start date for the second semester to February first and cancel spring break. The plan requires all students to be tested for COVID on their return, and all returning students must complete a seven-day precautionary quarantine prior to their arrival on campus.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got 19 in the hospital confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 872 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 18,756 reported cases, 73 more than Friday, and the number of deaths in the county since the pandemic began remains at 684, it’s been there about two weeks.
