A long-time public education advocate has been appointed as an interim school board member in East Ramapo. The Journal News says Carole Anderson was appointed at the April 21 school board meeting to fill the seat left vacant by Bernard Charles, who resigned as part of a plea deal with the Rockland District Attorney’s Office. Charles pleaded guilty in February to misdemeanor petty larceny. Anderson is a former public school teacher and assistant principal from Wesley Hills, and a member of village’s Zoning Board of Appeals. The interim position lasts until the next school election, which has been postponed by the governor until June ninth.
