Power Almost All Back to Rockland Electric Customers, Fallout from Preparation and Response Continues

Just about everyone in the O&R service area has their power back following last week’s tropical storm. There’s just over 200 customers out, around half of them in Rockland. Now the company is facing the fallout from its preparation and preparedness. Rockland state senator David Carlucci says front line workers are doing the best they can, but maybe it’s time for the state to consider taking over utility companies…

Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski says something needs to be figured out to prevent such outages from happening again…

On Friday, O&R spokesman Mike Donovan defended the company’s response, noting they had implemented a system-hardening project following superstorm Sandy…

Donovan says the company continually works to figure out which areas should have their wires moved underground.
