The driver of the car involved in a fatal crash on the Palisades Parkway in Haverstraw on Sunday has been identified, and she remains in critical condition. New York State Police say 34 year-old Bernadine Ramtahal-Thomas was driving a 2021 Hyundai early Sunday morning heading north near exit 13 in Pomona, the car left the roadway and crashed into a tree. Her passenger, 36 year-old Chevy Thomas, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both come from Maybrook in Orange County and reportedly both off-duty NYPD officers. State Police identified the lone victim of another car crash early Friday evening in Stony Point. Police say 56 year-old Michael Paradis of Pelham in Westchester was heading south on the Palisades Parkway at a high rate of speed near Exit 16-Lake Welch Drive. His 2013 Acura MDX left the roadway on the west shoulder, struck a tree and rolled over. Paradis was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was the car’s only occupant. The crash tied up traffic in both directions for several hours. The investigation into the accident continues.
