An unidentified, 55-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night near the NY border in Montvale. The Montvale resident reportedly had been struck by a 63-year-old Garfield man around 8:30 while walking on the southbound side of Chestnut Ridge Road. She suffered a major head wound. Montvale police and Tri-Boro EMTs treated her at the scene. She was later pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center.
An unidentified man was arrested and released in accordance with NYS Bail Reform laws following a fiery crash on Route 45 in Pomona early Friday morning. Ramapo Police say the car had struck a utility pole and the driver had gotten out before they arrived. They say they noted signs of intoxication and arrested the driver, who was taken to Nyack Hospital by Spring Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps for non-life threatening injuries. The road was temporarily closed as O&R repaired the damaged pole.
Ramapo Police arrested an unidentified woman after a slow-speed chase across some lawns in Hillcrest early Friday morning. Police say the chase ended near Rockland Lane and Alexander Avenue. An officer tried to get her to stop but she wouldn’t comply. She was taken into custody.
