Parole Denied for Paula Bohovesky Killer, Robert McCain

June 25, 2019 by helpdesk1

Robert McCain, the second of two men convicted in the brutal 1980 murder of a Pearl River 16 year-old, has been denied parole. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the parole board heard Rockland’s pleas for justice for Paula Bohovesky, and he’d like them to reverse its previous decision to release Richard LaBarbera…

Former Orangetown legislator John Murphy is the founder of the “Petition for Paula” whose goal is to keep both her convicted killers in prison. Murphy says he is happy McCain was denied parole, but wants to figure out why he stays behind bars and LaBarbera was set for release…

Rockland state senator David Carlucci called the parole board’s move the “right decision” and wants them to reexamine their decision to release LaBarbera. Rockland County legislator Alden Wolfe agreed and said the Parole Board should reverse that decision. LaBarbera is reportedly due to be set free on July 8th. Bohovesky was beaten, stabbed and sexually assaulted while on her way home from the Pearl River Library.
