Over 5,000 Rocklanders Get Polio Shots Since Detection in July

September 14, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

Just over 5,000 Rocklanders have gotten the polio vaccine since it was detected here earlier this summer. Since then it’s reportedly spread into Orange, Sullivan and Nassau Counties as well. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says polio can be a formidable enemy…

Of the 5,064 polio vaccines given out so far, 77 percent went to kids four years old and younger, and nearly 14 percent went to those age five to 18. Just nine percent have gone to those 19 and older. Anyone who needs assistance scheduling an appointment to get the vaccine can call the county Department of Health at 845-238-1956.
