Outdoor Ballparks Given OK to Allow 33% Capacity, Casinos and Gyms Boosted to 50%

April 27, 2021 by helpdesk1

The number of people allowed in outdoor stadiums such as Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona has been upped from 20 percent, but still not high enough for some area officials. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced starting May 15th they can go as high as 33 percent…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day is glad to see the governor kinda come around on this, though he says it’s hard to grasp why indoor venues can open to greater capacities than outdoor ballparks…

Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht would rather see the ballpark capacity moved to at least 50 percent…

And that was Boulders VP Seth Cantor. The governor also announced the state fair would be held this summer with COVID protocols in place at a capacity of 50 percent. Additionally, offices can go from 50 to 75 percent occupancy, casinos from 25 to 50 percent, and gyms and fitness clubs, from 33 to 50 percent. The State Fair is in Syracuse from August 20th to September 6th.

COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, the death count remained unchanged at 949. We’ve got 17 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 733 active cases. Our total case count is 46,113, that’s 112 more than Monday.
