Orangetown to Vote on Potential Zone Change to Allow Developer to Build Single-Family Homes in Blauvelt

February 10, 2025 by Jeff Lewis

The town of Orangetown is considering a zone change for a piece of property in Blauvelt off Western Highway between Leber Road and Old Western Highway that was once owned by the water company. A developer is looking to build 13 single-family homes but many area residents have expressed opposition. Several spoke out last month at a town board meeting against the project. Michelle Brisim suggested the town create a committee of residents to take a year to brainstorm other potential uses for the property…

Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny says the project will help the town address the housing shortage they’re suffering from…

A vote is expected to take place at tomorrow night’s town board meeting, and Kenny said last week she plans to vote yes for the zone change.
