Orangetown to Hold Meeting on Criminal Justice Reforms

Area lawmakers met with Rockland’s sheriff, local chiefs of police and elected officials recently to discuss how to go about reversing some of the more radical changes due to take effect come January with the criminal justice reform package passed in the state budget last April. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco told “The Morning Show” he was pleased Rockland and Westchester state senator David Carlucci, a backer of the bill, has met with him and the group, and is eager to listen to their issues. Falco says all Albany lawmakers need to do the same…

The town of Orangetown isn’t waiting for the new laws to take effect. The Orangetown Police Commission is holding a meeting next week to educate residents about the changes. They cite the “significant financial burden” and “serious consequences” area municipalities, police departments and crime victims will have to face. The meeting is being held Tuesday night at 7pm at Orangetown Town Hall.
