Two Rockland towns have declared states of emergency over coronavirus. In Orangetown, supervisor Teresa Kenny says there are no orders attached to the declaration yet, it was done just in case it’s needed…
While parks are open, all town playgrounds are closed. The golf courses are open for now, but there is limited access to all town offices, as staffing in each department has been cut in half, as mandated by the state. All town meetings scheduled through March 27th have been cancelled.
Clarkstown also passed a state of emergency. All town departments will only conduct in-person appointments that are emergencies. Everything else is being handled by phone or electronically. Town Court is closed, and all court matters have been adjourned. All senior centers, community centers, playgrounds and pickleball courts are closed but parks are open. Palisades Center says they’re closing all interior portions of the mall starting tonight at 8pm.
