The Orange County man who’s being held for the 2019 machete attack in Monsey during Chanukkah will remain confined to a psychiatric facility for another two years. News 12 reports a federal judge granted an application for Grafton Thomas to continue treatment at the MidHudson Psychiatric Center until January 2026. Thomas is accused of attacking a crowd of people during a Chanukkah celebration at a Monsey home, one died several months after the attack from his injuries. The 10-count federal indictment accuses him of hate crimes, and he faces murder and attempted murder charges here in Rockland. Thomas has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
