Around 6,000 O&R customers were still without power, about 1,600 in Rockland as of yesterday afternoon.Orange and Rockland Utilities continues to work to make repairs to the infrastructure that came down during last week’s tropical storm. O&R spokesman Mike Donovan says it takes a herculean effort to bring 220,000 customers back online…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day says O&R may need to beef up its tree-pruning program to prevent so many transmission lines from coming down again…

Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht and the other four town supervisors told O&R last week they weren’t happy with their response to and preparation for the storm…

O&R says additional contractors have joined the hundreds of overhead line workers and associated storm recovery crews to help repair damage and restore power to the remaining customers who were still without electricity. O&R expects the vast majority of its customers to be restored by Tuesday 11 pm.
