Omicron COVID Cases Found in NYC Metro, Governor says: “We’re Ready”

December 3, 2021 by Jeff Lewis

Five cases of COVID from the Omicron strain have been traced to the New York metro area. The governor last night said a 67-year-old woman from Suffolk County had traveled from South Africa and tested positive three days ago. Governor Kathy Hochul says there were also two cases in Queens, one in Brooklyn, and the fifth, a traveler in one of the boroughs…

Hochul urged unvaccinated New Yorkers to get vaccinated and for those who can do so to get their booster shots. Another case in Minnesota has been traced to an event at the Javits Center in the city. The Anime NYC 2021 conference was held November 19th through the 21st and attended by more than 50,000 people. Every attendee had to be vaccinated and wear masks indoors. The man in the Minnesota case has reportedly recovered and only suffered mild symptoms.
