The New York State Public Service Commission has come out with a report that says a municipal takeover of the county’s main water company doesn’t make economic sense. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says if the water company were to be taken over by the government, the county, Rockland’s towns, villages, and school districts would lose more than $25 million dollars in property taxes…
Residents would also have to pay for the 1,060 miles of existing water lines. Veolia took over Suez Water New York earlier this year. Click here for the report (PDF download).
