NY’s Gun Safety Bills Supported by Local Lawmaker, Thinks Feds Need to Do More

June 13, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

A local state lawmaker thinks the package of gun safety bills that the governor signed last week is a good start. But Rockland’s State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick says the federal government needs to do more than just talk…

WRCR listener Shlomo called “The Morning Show” last week, and said New York also needs to make some additional corrections to its state laws…

At the bill-signing ceremony, Governor Kathy Hochul said for too long, too many families have been destroyed, thanks to targeted — and random — gun violence…

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that a bi-partisan group of senators say they’ve reached an agreement on a framework for gun safety legislation, which could lead to the first significant new U.S. gun law in decades. The country has seemingly been plagued by many mass-shootings lately, including one at a Buffalo supermarket and a Texas Elementary school. Both of those incidents together took 31 lives, most of them elementary school children.
