NYS Gov Authorizes School Districts to Install Stop-arm Cameras on Buses

August 9, 2019 by helpdesk1

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation earlier this week authorizing school districts to install stop-arm cameras on school buses. The cameras would help catch drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus. Rockland State Senator David Carlucci says motorists do the wrong thing far too often…

The New York Association for Pupil Transportation found that up to 50,000 cars pass a stopped, working school bus in New York state every day. That same survey found more than two-thousand of them passed on the right-hand side where students exit the bus. Violators will face fines of $250 per violation.
