NYS Finds Polio in Wastewater in Orange County, Parents Encouraged to Get Kids Vaccinated

More needs to be done to keep Rockland kids protected from polio. That’s according to Rockland’s County Executive. Recent tests of wastewater in Rockland have not shown any trace of polio. But Ed Day told “The Morning Show” Friday it’s important to stay vigilant, and it’s not enough to just require the shots for school-age children…

Meanwhile the state Health Department announced Friday they discovered two positive samples of polio in the wastewater in Orange County last month and they were genetically linked to the case of paralytic polio identified in Rockland last July. The DOH said they continue to conduct wastewater surveillance and urge New Yorkers to ensure their children are fully immunized.
