The plight of migrants continues to be a political football here in the Hudson Valley, across the state and the country. According to the Texas Tribune, immigration agents had about 10,000 encounters a day with migrants at the southern border. But since Title 42 ended late last week, that number has been cut in half. Still, that hasn’t stopped Texas governor Greg Abbott from sending migrants to the Vice-President’s home in Washington. And New York City’s Mayor, also a target of Abbott’s, has been sending his overflow to other areas in New York. While none has yet to arrive in Orangeburg as was initially thought to be the case, callers to “The Morning Show” aren’t happy that it could happen, and would prefer that we take better care of our own first…

Meanwhile, Orange County continues to brace for more migrants to be brought in from the city. A State Supreme Court ruling is expected this week on Orange County’s request for a restraining order against New York City. The New York Post reports that in addition to an elementary school in Coney Island, six more schools in Brooklyn and Staten Island are being targeted to house migrants, starting as early as today. News 12 reported migrants started arriving in Yonkers late last night.
