Starting next year, New York State is raising the minimum wage to $15 across most of the state, including Rockland, and $16 an hour for employees in New York City, Long Island and Westchester. In 2025 and 2026 those numbers will go up another 50 cents. The statewide minimum wage increase was passed as part of the 2016-2017 state budget. In 2017, the statewide minimum wage was $9.70.
