Rockland’s congressman is learning what it’s like to run for office in the big city. As the new election districts became clearer, Rockland Congressman Mondaire Jones decided to run this year for a new district that covers Park Slope and Lower Manhattan. The New York Post has wasted no time, they had a piece yesterday criticizing Jones for voting by proxy last summer under the guise of COVID safety concerns, but at the time he was in France for a friend’s wedding. A Jones spokesman told the tabloid Jones had no regrets about delegating votes so he could attend his friend’s wedding. Jones isn’t the only representative to take advantage of that particular perk. The Post says House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik voted by proxy on the same day she appeared with former president Trump at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
