The governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut yesterday said all individuals traveling from states with significant COVID-19 levels must quarantine for a 14-day period when they come to their states. The measure took effect as of midnight early this morning and applies to anyone coming from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average. As of now that includes Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, the Carolinas, Utah and Texas.
In local COVID news, seniors 60 and older can get free masks from the Rockland County Office for the Aging today. They’re giving out reusable, washable masks today from 11-1 at the health complex at 50 Sanatorium Road in Pomona, building B.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, the state has confirmed almost 390,000 total cases and 24,782 deaths. In Rockland, the state says we’ve got 13,534 reported cases, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 667 fatalities here in the county, unchanged since June 19th.
