NY Looks to Improve Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Low- and middle-income renters or landlords who rent to them may have an easier time getting money from a federal program that thus far has been poorly administered by the state. Rockland’s state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick says renters encompass 30 percent of the county’s residents, and should apply to the Emergency Rental Assistance Program as soon as possible…

Meanwhile the federal moratorium on evictions expired yesterday. Governor Hochul yesterday called legislators back to Albany for a rare special session to extend the moratorium for New York tenants and landlords who have struggled during the pandemic…
