NY Guv: “Only One Football Team Plays in New York”

August 3, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

In a speech before the New York State Building Trades Conference yesterday in Saratoga, New York’s governor made it clear she has a favorite football team. Governor Kathy Hochul, as you may know, hails from the Buffalo area…

The New York Jets and New York Giants both play in what’s commonly known as the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Under the Bills’ 30-year deal with the state and Erie County for construction of a new $1.4 billion stadium, the team will get a whopping $850 million from taxpayers…that’s $250 million from Erie County, on top of the $600 million in state funds, the rest coming from the NFL. The project will supposedly create 10,000 union jobs. The stadium is targeted to open in time for the 2026 season.
