NY Gov Defends Food-with-Alcohol Order; Wants Increased Local Police Crackdown

July 24, 2020 by helpdesk1

The governor is defending his “food-with-alcohol” mandate claiming it’s already a state law, and that outdoor drinking at bars has never been allowed. At a Manhattan press conference yesterday, Andrew Cuomo said a multi-agency task force would crack down on violations at restaurants and bars across the state…

Cuomo also asked for local officials be more aggressive in outdoor drinking violations. The unintended consequence of the crackdown, Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says, is that restaurants that have patrons that do behave will be the ones that suffer…

In other COVID-19 news, California took the state lead in the number of cases nationwide over New York. California yesterday had about 10,000 more cases than New York does, but New York’s death toll is still far and away the highest in the nation at 32,270, more than double the state in second, New Jersey.

COVID-19 by the numbers now, in Rockland, we’ve got four in the hospital being checked out, another eight have been confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 13,820 reported cases, 8 more than yesterday, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 673 fatalities here in the county, no change in that number since yesterday.
