NY Considers Mobile Gaming to Help Raise Money

February 4, 2021 by helpdesk1

Marijuana isn’t the only vice that the governor is looking get approved to help boost New York’s coffers. Mobile sports betting would let New Yorkers use a tablet computer or smartphone to bet on baseball games or other sports. Governor Andrew Cuomo says it can bring in $500 million…

Cuomo, of course, supports the latter proposal. Rockland Business Association CEO Al Samuels thinks the bill will pass and the state will be the big winner, but it’ll come at a price…

Stony Point and Orange County assemblyman Colin Schmitt is considering both options…

Under the governor’s plan, the New York State Gaming Commission would license sports operators or platforms to offer mobile sports wagering. The Commission would also require operators to include safeguards against abuses and addiction. Pennsylvania and New Jersey have already legalized mobile gaming.
