North Bergen, NJ, teen Gets 19 Years in Prison After Pleading Guilty in Shooting Death of Spring Valley Man

A North Bergen, New Jersey, teen will spend the next 19 years in a New York State prison after pleading guilty in the shooting death of a 20 year-old Spring Valley man nearly three years ago. 20 year-old Emerson Jean-Baptiste was shot late one night in September 2019 at a Spring Valley apartment complex on Liberty Parkway. Jayden Rodriguez, just 17 at the time, was accused along with a 20 year-old Haverstraw man in the shooting. Rodriguez was sentenced as an adult after pleading guilty to first degree manslaughter in May.
