NJ Looks to Implement its Own Version of “Harper’s Law”

New Jersey is taking a cue from New York, trying to pass a bill that would make furniture safer. Harper’s Law recently passed in the New York State legislature and just needs the governor’s signature to become law. It was named for the granddaughter of “Morning Show” friend Sandy Fried. Three-year old Harper was killed while playing in her room and a piece of furniture toppled over onto her…

In New Jersey’s version of the bill, furniture sellers would have to post a notice stating furniture can tip over and restraint devices may prevent accidents. Retailers would also have to sell safety fixtures for their furniture.
