Haverstraw Police are continuing their search for the two cars that were apparently involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Pomona last week. The Journal News says the victim was 72 year-old Daniel DeSerio of Pomona, who ran a window-washing business in Nyack and Piermont. DeSerio was reportedly crossing Thiells-Mount Ivy Road near the Hillcrest Fire Department around 6:30 Friday morning when he was struck. Anyone with information should call the Haverstraw Detective Division at 845-942-3730. Visitation for DeSario is today from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, and the funeral is tomorrow at 11:15 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville.
Two Arrested in Ramapo for Gift Card Theft
Two Long Island men were arrested Tuesday in connection with gift card thefts from the 7-Eleven in Montebello last March. Ramapo Police say the pair used counterfeit money to fund $500 worth of gift cards. A long multi-jurisdictional investigation connected the pair to similar incidents in Westchester and Putnam Counties. They’ve been charged with Grand Larceny and Conspiracy among other charges. They were sent to Rockland County Jail based on prior felony convictions. They are due in Montebello Justice Court later this month.
