New York has notified the rest of the country of a new trend they’re seeing amid the coronavirus outbreak, this one striking children. 85 reported cases are being investigated in the state in which predominantly school-aged children are experiencing symptoms like an atypical Kawasaki disease or a toxic shock-like syndrome, possibly linked to COVID-19. The illness has taken the lives of three young New Yorkers, including a 5-year-old New York City boy, who died at a Manhattan hospital, a 7-year-old Westchester boy, who died at a Valhalla hospital, and a teenager from Suffolk County. An additional two deaths are currently under investigation. COVID-19 by the numbers, the state now has confirmed more than 335,000 total cases of coronavirus across the state and nearly 21,500 deaths.
