New NY Law Starts Sunday Mandating Passengers Over 16 to Wear Seat Belts

A new law goes into effect Sunday that requires all vehicle passengers that are 16 and over to wear a seat belt whether in the front or the back. The law previously only required them to wear the belts while riding in the front. Rockland sheriff Lou Falco says you won’t be fined just yet…

Passengers who don’t buckle up will be the one to get a ticket, and it’ll run you up to $50.
