Negotiations Intensify Over NYS Budget, Due by April 1st

With just 2½ weeks left before the State of New York is required to have its budget in place, and the governor is suggesting it could get held up by various controversial issues, including an expansion of charter schools and bail reform. Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski of the 96th district says it’s important to hit the deadline of April first, but he’s not ready to predict yet that it’ll be late since there’s lots of negotiating still to do…

Rockland and Orange County Assemblyman Karl Brabenec of the 98th district says the budget won’t come easy…

Last year, the 2023 budget was held up for almost a week as negotiations over partial rollbacks of bail reform took center stage.
