Local political leaders continue to make noise over moves to have Rockland and other west-of-Hudson commuters pay the lion’s share of the so-called congestion pricing on those going south of 60th street in Manhattan by the end of next year. At a press conference yesterday, State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said he’d be introducing a bill to keep Rockland residents from being “double-tolled” – at either a tunnel or bridge, and then again entering the congestion pricing zone…
Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski said he’d carry the bill in the lower house…
Last week, County Executive Ed Day told “The Morning Show” that charging Rockland commuters an extra $23 each day to enter the city is wrong, especially as hefty improvement projects for Grand Central Station get the go-ahead…
Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says adding commuter transportation to the Conrail tracks that already service North Rockland is an interesting concept, but it’s not likely to happen soon…
Al Samuels heads-up the Rockland Business Association, and says there could be discounts for first responders and health care workers…
