The MTA’s controversial congestion pricing plan could start next May, but the agency is still looking to settle a lawsuit by New Jersey officials looking to stop the plan from moving forward. That’s according to the New York Post. The MTA is also in the midst of a final public hearing regarding the plan, which looks to toll most commuters at least $15 to enter the pricing zone below 60th street in Manhattan. Assemblyman Chris Eachus of the 99th district, representing Stony Point and portions of Orange County, says he’s hopeful the governor will encourage the MTA to include discounts for west-of-Hudson commuters…
The plan is expected to bring in $1 billion for the MTA’s capital plan, and reduce congestion and pollution in Manhattan. The review board thinks they’ll see a 17% reduction in the number of cars, that’s 153,000 fewer each day.
