The numbers are staggering: the Centers for Disease Control says there are three million emergency room visits and 800,000 hospitalizations a year attributed to senior adults who fall. One-fourth of seniors will fall. This has been Fall Awareness Week, and Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s Departments of Trauma and Paramedicine have a “Falls Awareness Program” running today to help turn those numbers around. Jennifer Pastiglione is the Trauma Program Manager at the hospital, and says today’s free event is for seniors and caregivers who want to learn more about how they can help…
They’ll have blood pressure screenings, medication reviews, nutrition information and more. The event is free, and so is parking, and runs today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Hospital’s Cafeteria Conference Room. For more information call Jennifer at 845-348-2043.
