Minimum Wage Rises in Hudson Valley

The minimum wage increased Monday here in the Hudson Valley to $11.10 an hour, in Westchester it’s now $12 an hour. Wages will go up in various sections of the state over the next few years until they reach $15 an hour, which it now is for large New York City-based companies. Rockland Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee told “The Morning Show” a higher minimum wage helps families…

The governor also vetoed a bill last week that would have expanded bereavement periods in the family leave bill that passed last year. Al Samuels , who heads the Rockland Business Association, says the bereavement expansion was poorly defined…

The bill has bipartisan support in the state Legislature. The Assembly passed it 111-32, and the state Senate was nearly unanimous, supporting it 61-1.
