Mid-Hudson Region Opens Tuesday; NY Governor Marks Memorial Day at USS Intrepid

May 26, 2020 by helpdesk1

New York’s governor says state and local governments will provide death benefits for frontline workers who died from COVID-19 during the pandemic. Andrew Cuomo also called again on the federal government to provide hazard pay for essential public workers on the front lines. During a ceremony yesterday at the USS Intrepid, Cuomo honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country…

The governor also announced over the weekend that the Mid-Hudson Valley is expected to begin phase one of the state’s regional phased reopening plan starting today. The Mid-Hudson Valley has now identified enough contact tracers, and they’re now being trained. Phase one includes construction, manufacturing and wholesale supply chain, retail for curbside pickup and drop-off or in-store pickup, and agriculture, forestry and fishing. COVID-19 by the numbers now, the state has confirmed around 363,000 total cases of coronavirus across the state and 23,500 deaths. In Rockland, the state says we’ve got over 12,900 reported cases, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 618 deaths here in the county.
