The mayor of a village in Orange County is recovering after being dragged by a truck in a CVS parking lot. It happened last weekend when Warwick mayor Michael Newhard tried to stop a man whom he thought might be impaired from driving. He took the man’s keys, but the man used a spare key to drive away anyway, dragging the mayor with him. The 42 year-old man hit several parked cars along the way. Warwick is located in Assemblyman Karl Brabenec’s district, and he told “The Morning Show” yesterday, luckily, mayor Newhard didn’t suffer serious injuries during the incident…
A U.S. Parks officer happened to be in the parking lot at the time and was able to stop the man from getting away. The driver was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The mayor was treated and released. Charges are pending against the driver, as the investigation into the incident continues.
