Local Lawmakers Lament Likelihood Congestion Pricing Will Pass

Looks like New York State could become the first in the nation to approve a congestion pricing plan for those entering the city. While the fee on motorists coming into Manhattan below 61st street isn’t yet known, Assemblyman Colin Schmitt of Stony Point and Orange County says it would be a significant burden on many west-of-Hudson commuters with limited travel options…

Backers of the plan hope to raise $1 billion a year, which would then be used to back $15 billion in transit bonds for subway and rail improvements through 2024.
